Rediscovering Pearlex Mica Powders for polymer clay
There are some polymer clay products that seem to disappear from view, even though they are still wonderfully useful. Pearlex mica powders are an instance.
If you’re new to polymer clay, you may already have experimented with eyeshadow or other cosmetic powders to add colour and shimmer to your clay. But Pearlex mica powder by Jacquard is made specifically for crafting with polymer clay, and opens up a surprising number of possibilities.
I have a considerable collection of Pearlex colours, and I thought it was time to bring them out of the shadows, for mica powder can be used in so many ways.

The most obvious is to add a beautiful pearlescent sheen to polymer clay. Brush a little onto the surface of your clay and the effect can range from a subtle shimmer to a much stronger metallic-looking finish, depending on how much you use.
If you mix it directly into polymer clay to give the whole piece a shimmer. This can be particularly lovely with translucent or semi-translucent clay, where the mica can create depth and movement within the finished piece.

When you cover the surface of a textured sheet with pearlex, the earrings you then produce have a very enticing sheen on them
Or you can use it with silk screens to good effect too

It can be mxed into resin , or acrylic paints, or wax – here it is mixed into moulding paste.
Being a strong pigment it resists fading. It is great for marbling. or highlighting textures, or painting edges of your pieces. I could go on…….

As you can see – Pearlex has so many uses
We have a collection of 47 of the colours. They are in 3gm containers (50ml) and we have a limited collection of the larger bottles too
